(Chronologically, it seems to happen between SMR and SMS.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Mighty Morphing Power Rangers Special Edition: "May the Moon Power Protect You!" Produced by Bandai and Saban Entertainment. Broadcast April 1, 1995, later to be released with SRP $14.95 The show begins with a scene of Billy on a telephone, talking to someone whose voice is only heard, but obvious to all of us. BILLY So it's all settled, then? We've all been sure to get our passports, and we'll be staying with you people. It should be pleasant weather over there this time of year, and no Lord Zed to cause interference.... AMI Oh, did you ever find out if the zords were named after Zordon? BILLY I'll ask him next chance I get. Got to go, take care.... AMI Take care. I like superintelligent teenagers of the opposite sex who wear blue all the time and morph into blue members of five person fighting superhero teams. BILLY Yeah, so do I. <<< OPENING CREDITS >>> The opening credits start out with the standard Mighty Morphing Power Rangers theme song, over a different background showing all six rangers in their civilian identities, one by one, in airplane seats. It cuts to a scowling visage of Lord Zed and occasional shots of the Sailor Senshi. Announcer: The Mighty Morphing Power Rangers Special Edition. Large II on screen. <<< TITLE >>> LORD ZED Those Power Rangers are always getting in my way! I know. I will start my conquest of Earth with a place far away from Angel Grove. Too long have I decided to attack parts of the Earth that are in walking distance of the homes of the Power Rangers. I will attack the other side of the planet! I will start my takeover with... Japan! GOLDAR You don't know the first thing about Japan, my lord! You don't even speak Japanese. Lord Zed turns to Goldar and moves his staff menacingly. Goldar flees. LORD ZED What a fool. But he's right. I must find a contact to help me in Japan.... Lord Zed manipulates a round viewscreen. LORD ZED So difficult to see pictures in this thing, I wish I had a rectangular one like they use on Earth. The viewscreen flickers rapidly between many different animated and live- action villains. But the final one remains out of view.... Scene change, on the airplane. Kimberly's speaking to a passenger. KIMBERLY Pretty far to Japan, isn't it? JANET I've come a much longer distance. This is just the last part. The Sailor Senshi in their civilian identities, plus Mamoru, all meet the Power Rangers at the airport. Apparently either the Power Rangers speak Japanese, or are well-dubbed. No, make that _appropriately_ dubbed. USAGI Hi! So you're the Mighty M-- Rei-chan immediately slaps Usagi. USAGI Uhh... I mean, you're, uh, the white guy, the red guy, the blue guy, the black guy, the pink girl, and the yellow girl. TOMMY I'm Tommy. I'm the leader of this group. This is Rocky, and this is Billy, and this is Adam, and this is Kimberly, and this is Ayesha. USAGI Yes, and I'm Usagi, this is my boyfriend Mamoru! Oh, and this is Ami, this is Rei, this is Makoto, this is Minako, this is Luna, and this is Artemis. BILLY Never met a cat before. AMI I hope your stay here will be a peaceful one. As Ami-chan says this, the focus changes to the woman we saw earlier, in the background. We can see her discarded ticket, labelled "Interplanet Janet". An ominous sound effect starts as the viewpoint draws in to her earring and to a ring, which she seems to be speaking to. JANET My lord, as you know, Japan has its own five person team of fighters for justice. I'll have to defeat them. But they should be no problem. LORD ZED See that it gets taken care of fast! These Sailor Senshi are younger, they should be much easier to take care of than the Power Rangers. Besides, I hired you _to_ be strong enough to take out the Power Rangers... or anyone who gets in my way! <<< COMMERCIAL BREAK >>> Next morning: KIMBERLY Wow, I've never been to a real temple before. REI Do they have these in America? KIMBERLY Well, we have churches, which are the same, but like, different, you know? REI Oh, no, I didn't know that. And by the way, watch out for my grandfather. He's a lech. Rei's grandfather comes behind Kimberly. Sensing something wrong, she touches her morphing device. KIMBERLY It's morphing time! Pterodactyl! She spins, suddenly covered in a pink suit, and manages a good kick to Rei's grandfather. REI What's wrong, Kimberly? He wouldn't really hurt anyone.... PINK RANGER I detected some kind of an evil presence. Like putties. Maybe your old man is secretly under.... REI Kimberly, look out! KIMBERLY Oh, yuck, it's the real villain. Sorry, old man. An ambisexual creature in a baseball costume suddenly charges, swinging its bat madly, hitting Rei's grandfather. It is wearing a patch labelled "Comet Team". REI Mars Star Power, Make Up! The Pink Ranger furiously battles the creature with karate kicks as Rei-chan transforms. SAILOR MARS Burning Mandala! Sailor Mars blasts the creature. SAILOR MARS We'd better call the others. Sailor Mars taps her wristwatch and speaks into it. The scene changes.... ROCKY Say, Minako, how about going out for some ice cream? MINAKO Sure... there's this place I know. They walk several blocks and reach an ice cream parlor. Minako buys two cones and hands one to Rocky. He bites into it. ROCKY Yeccccch! There are beans in this ice cream! MINAKO But what's wrong with it? ROCKY Never mind. Just take it back. Get something else. Minako walks back to the counter. An employee walks in the back room. The camera follows him, and we're treated to a view of a woman choking him with a catcher's mitt. There is a patch on this woman's uniform. She steps out briefly. WOMAN Sorry, everything's closed. The woman then steps in the back to look at an evil-seeming viewscreen. We know it is evil-seeming because everything else is dark. Back to Minako and Rocky: MINAKO They seem to have closed the counter all of a sudden. That's strange... they're open until 8. ROCKY Oh well. C'est la vie. MINAKO What? ROCKY C'est la vie. MINAKO What is it? ROCKY No, no, c'est la vie. MINAKO (shouting) What do you want? The monster arrives, and Minako and Rocky stop arguing, looking at each other sheepishly. ROCKY It's morphing time! Tyrannosaurus! MINAKO Venus Star Power, Make Up! The Red Ranger intercepts several blasts, one with his ice cream cone; beans fly all over the place. Finally, Minako finishes transforming; she attacks. SAILOR VENUS Venus Lovely Chain! The whiplike attack enwraps the monster, and the Red Ranger and Minako pull hard, suddenly sending the monster spinning. The monster is knocked out, and disappears. RED RANGER Everyone else needs to be informed of this! SAILOR VENUS Right... I'll just use my signalling device... wait, it's not working. Cut to Ayesha and Makoto. They are on a really crowded train somewhere in Tokyo. AYESHA Is it always this crowded? MAKOTO More than in America, anyway, and you need to worry about... There is a brief shot of a mantrying to feel up Mako-chan. Suddenly she turns and smashes him into a wall. A closeup of the man shows a Comet Team patch. MAKOTO ... chikans. AYESHA Say, let me try that. Several minutes pass without incident, according to the clock, and then Ayesha suddenly turns, like Mako-chan, and slams the same man into the wall. AYESHA How much of the powers do the Sailor Senshi retain without their special costumes? We Power Rangers have been good fighters even outside our costumes. MAKOTO It's not really _powers_, but we get a lot of fighting practice. And Rei still has her, uh, what is your word for them? AYESHA Deadly post-it notes? MAKOTO Close enough. Ayesha smashes the man (under a seat this time) and turns to him. AYESHA She didn't mean you. You're _too_ close. The man gets up and begins to change into a more monstrous figure. He is shaking a bit. All the passengers run away. It's not clear where to. AYESHA It's morphing time! Sabertooth tiger! MAKOTO Jupiter Star Power, Make Up! The Comet Team monster gets up and feebly lashes out, all bruises remaining from its treatment earlier. The Yellow Ranger holds him against the chair with a foot until Mako-chan can finish changing. SAILOR JUPITER Sparkling Wide Pressure! The attack hits the monster, who disintegrates. SAILOR JUPITER Hmph. Better call the others. SAILOR JUPITER That's funny, it doesn't seem to respond. The next scene shows Mamoru with Adam at a baseball game. ADAM So this is a Japanese baseball game? Almost like in America. MAMORU Wait, who's that out on the field? ADAM Looks like a baseball player. MAMORU We don't have any baseball teams named "Comet Team". The "baseball player" suddenly transforms into a monster. Everybody starts to run. There is panic in the stadium. A brief closeup to a teenager being trampled. He is holding a wooden sword, trampled into splinters. ADAM We've got to do something! It's morphing time! Mastodon! Adam and Mamoru transform, nearly instantly. TEENAGER Pony-tailed girl, where did you go...? Tuxedo Kamen notices the teenager is holding a bouquet of red roses. TUXEDO KAMEN Give me that! He takes the roses from the sad-looking teenager and begins throwing them at the monster, who approaches in turn. The Comet Team monster takes several stems to the chest. MONSTER Where are you? Show yourselves, Sailor Senshi and friends! BLACK RANGER Oh, I get it... we're in the shadows. He can't see us, because our costumes are so dark. The Black Ranger jumps out of the shadows and punches the monster as it approaches, and then Tuxedo Kamen stuffs a rose down its throat. The monster disintegrates. BLACK RANGER We should call the others... do you have some sort of communicator? TUXEDO KAMEN Oh, I don't need one. I always find my way there in time anyway. The scene changes. Billy and Ami-chan are walking past a scale model of Godzilla, about six feet tall. BILLY So this is the Attack Museum. I like museums... AMI Museums are a good place for study and education. We can learn all the different attacks faced by Tokyo in recent years here. There's even a section about the Sailor Senshi. It's on the next floor. The two walk up to the next floor, but behind them on the stairs is a figure wearing a strange patch on his jacket. They pass a Sailor Senshi exhibit with Ami's face very prominent. She seems to be the number 1 Sailor Senshi for all of Japan. It isn't clear who voted her this, but _we_know_. BILLY That's really what the Silver Millennium looked like? AMI Of course not. Why would anyone _really_ wear sailor suits on the moon, when sailor suits are Earth things? But it's not a bad rendition. The figure with the patch touches it, and transforms into yet another Comet Team monster. BILLY Ami-chan, look out! Billy throws himself and Ami-chan to the ground just as a dark, evil, blast passes over their heads. BILLY It's morphing time! Triceratops! The blast hits a cardboard cut-out of Ami-chan as Sailor Mercury, which shatters into pieces and drops to the floor, a pile of paper. AMI Mercury Star Power, Make Up! Billy, by now the Blue Ranger, stands up in a Power Rangers pose and wrestles with the creature. Finally, Ami-chan is in costume, and blasts the monster. SAILOR MERCURY Shining Aqua Illusion! The monster disintegrates. Ami-chan uses her communicator to try to call everyone else. SAILOR MERCURY Odd... the others must be trying to call me at the same time. It's like a busy signal... and we don't have Sailor Senshi Call Waiting! BLUE RANGER Could they all be in danger? <<< COMMERCIAL BREAK >>> After the commercial break, we see the final two teenagers walking along in the park, Tommy and Usagi. Usagi has just bought a hamburger and is eating it. TOMMY I thought it was bad manners to eat while walking in Japan. Usagi is stuffing her face. USAGI Mrrf blllrgggrrrrhl. TOMMY So tell me about what it's like to lead the Sailor Senshi. USAGI It's a very difficult and demanding job, one which requires a lot of responsibility and thought. USAGI (nonverbal) Boy Tommy's cute. USAGI Each Sailor Senshi has a special power. We use it against the enemy when we need to. LUNA (nonverbal) Unless it's a transformation pen. Say, where did I ever put that thing, anyway? USAGI Are battles in America any different from battles in Japan? TOMMY Well, we have a special rule, "never escalate a battle". But I guess, you over in Japan are not so familiar with giant robots, and you don't need that kind of rule. Once again, Interplanet Janet is in the background. She suddenly blurs, and transforms to someone, but she is only shown in the shadows. USAGI It's a monster! I think it's time to escalate that battle now! Moon Cosmic Power, Make Up! TOMMY Gotcha. It's morphing time. Tigerzord! The enemy (which looks like a female human, except for her outlandish 70's uniform) charges them, but Usagi manages to finish the transformation before it's all over. In front of the enemy stands the White Ranger, and Sailor Moon. SAILOR MOON A pleasant visit by teenage fighters for good from America is not a thing to be interrupted by a new series of enemy monsters! For love and justice, I am the beautiful warrior, Sailor Moon! In the name of the Moon, the Power that Protects, and the trade imbalance of good and evil, we will punish you! She takes the usual pose. The White Ranger stands proudly near her. WHITE RANGER Like she said. We will. GALAXY GIRL I am Galaxy Girl! And I will destroy you! What, who is your friend, Sailor Moon? He can't be one of the Power Rangers, they're in America! SAILOR MOON It's not fair for us to tell you about ourselves. Why don't you explain where you're from first? It would do us a lot of good! Galaxy Girl raises her eyebrows. GALAXY GIRL A lot of good? I don't want to do a lot of good! You are as air- headed as your daughter, expecting me to tell you something like who I am or where I come from, or what I want to do. Let it remain a mystery! GALAXY GIRL Comet Team Assemble! Suddenly, five baseball-suited monsters materialize in a star pattern around Galaxy Girl. One shoots the White Ranger near his feet, and the other blasts and singes Usagi's hair. There is a furious battle. Finally, in the middle of the battle, a sound can be heard from Usagi's communicator. Shortly afterwards, the other Sailor Senshi and Power Rangers arrive, along with Tuxedo Kamen. SAILOR MOON Tuxedo Kamen! Everyone! The multiple attacks make short work of the Comet Team. BLACK RANGER All right! It's just like destroying Putties. SAILOR MOON Moon Spiral Heart Attack! Galaxy Girl hears Usagi and screams. She jumps into the bushes and zooms away at rocket speed. The bush is hit by Usagi's beam, shimmers, and turns into a bush. The next day, the Sailor Senshi, Tuxedo Kamen, and all six Power Rangers are gathered together in Mamoru's apartment, in civilian identities. Usagi and Minako are playing a Sailor V game, Minako winning. TOMMY We've got to do something! USAGI But what? I can't think of anything! BILLY Listen, guys, I've got an idea. MAKOTO Sure, let's hear it. BILLY You see, we were all attacked in various places? Well, you told me once about something called the Crystal Points. BILLY Well, it's the same principle. Like the Crystal Points, the enemy are probably attacking in some sort of pattern. AMI I see. If the Comet Team is attacking places in a geometric pattern, we can find the center, or any remaining places in the pattern, and get to them before they do. BILLY Right, Ami-chan! AMI Say, why didn't we do this for the crystal points? The other four senshi, and Mamoru, simultaneously fall down. They get up with a large bead of sweat on each one's forehead. Mamoru gets out and unfolds a map. MAMORU Okay, everybody, I've marked where we were fought. All of you do it too. There is a mad scramble as ten people try to make marks on a map that is perhaps two feet wide. When they're done, there are several bruises, and lots of messed-up hair, but the map is done. USAGI It's a hexagon. LUNA Then the place we're looking for must be in the center. BILLY Say, doesn't it seem suspicious that with all the places in Tokyo they could be, they just happened to be in places where we could catch them? It's really very unlikely. REI Don't worry, don't worry. It happens all the time. ADAM Or just maybe... they were after us. Or after you. And somehow, they made us come to those special spots. KIMBERLY Hey, guys? You know, there was a suspicious person on the airplane when we got here. She was named Interplanet Janet. Well, you know how your names all fit the names of the planets your hero identities are based on? USAGI Mine doesn't. KIMBERLY Well, if Tsukino Usagi can be Sailor Moon, couldn't Interplanet Janet be Galaxy Girl? AMI Kimberly, a galaxy isn't interplanetary. It's interstellar. TOMMY I think it's a great idea. We should check it out. Usagi has hearts in her eyes as she looks at Tommy. Mamoru frowns. USAGI Wait... Interplanet Janet? That explains it! AYESHA What? USAGI A message my daughter left me. Just before she went back. She said that she just heard, from the future world, that somebody by that name had escaped. I told her I'd take care of it when it happens.... All the Power Rangers in unison look at Usagi. RANGERS Your what? The twelve teenagers settle down to eat lunch. Then everybody, sans costume, makes their way to the spot on the map. It turns out to be on top of the junior high school building. REI (pointing) Is that her? Is that Interplanet Janet? USAGI Don't cause a lot of damage. It'll really annoy Haruna-sensei. Rei-chan walks over to Interplanet Janet. REI Hey, what's that on your head? Rei sticks one of her magical papers on Interplanet Janet's head. JANET I can't... I can't change... now you've made me angry! Comet Team! Attack them! Several members of the Comet Team rush into view, which is amazing considering they are on a roof with only one door leading in. JANET You are doomed, Sailor Senshi! More ominous music plays. <<< COMMERCIAL BREAK >>> TOMMY Tigerzord! Tommy transforms to the White Ranger. ADAM Mastodon! Adam transforms to the Black Ranger. KIMBERLY Pterodactyl! Kimberly transforms to the Pink Ranger. ROCKY Tyrannosaurus! Rocky transforms to the Red Ranger. BILLY Triceratops! Billy transforms to the Blue Ranger. AYESHA Sabertooth tiger! Ayesha transforms to the Yellow Ranger. REI Mars Star Power, Make Up! The Sailor Mars transformation sequence starts up. MINAKO Venus Star Power, Make Up! The Sailor Venus transformation sequence starts up. MAKOTO Jupiter Star Power, Make Up! The Sailor Jupiter transformation sequence starts up. AMI Mercury Star Power, Make Up! The Sailor Mercury transformation sequence starts up. USAGI Moon Cosmic Power, Make Up! The Sailor Moon transformation sequence starts up. Everybody finishes transforming at the same time. Mamoru is not actually seen transforming, but Tuxedo Kamen is visible in the background anyway. WHITE RANGER We need MegaThunderZord power now! White Tiger Thunderzord Power Up! BLACK RANGER Mastodon/Lion Thunderzord Power! RED RANGER Tyrannosaurus/Red Dragon Thunderzord Power! PINK RANGER Pterodactyl/Firebird Thunderzord Power! YELLOW RANGER Sabertooth Tiger/Griffin Thunderzord Power! BLUE RANGER Triceratops/Unicorn Thunderzord Power! Scene of zords, apparently crossing the ocean much faster than airplanes. Then the zords combine into one larger zord. USAGI You may be a solar system person from a future world, but we are the solar system now! For love and justice, in the name of the moon and the planets, and the Power that Protects, we shall punish you! <<< COMMERCIAL BREAK >>> The big zord stomps around, crushing members of the Comet Team. Soon all that's left are the Power Rangers, the Sailor Senshi, and Interplanet Janet. Suddenly, a sound and a burst of wind. In the sky, Serpenterra. The wind blows the magic paper off of Janet's head, and in a blaze of light she transforms into Galaxy Girl. LORD ZED (speakers) The Power Rangers? Here? Impossible! Attack them, while I pit Serpenterra against the Sailor Senshi.... GALAXY GIRL Yes, my lord. Serpenterra promptly begins smashing into the MegaThunderZord. The surprised giant robot falls to the ground, crushing the front gates. WHITE RANGER Lying about your plans, Lord Zed? GALAXY GIRL He hasn't exactly sworn to be honest. GALAXY GIRL You've destroyed my Comet Team, Sailor Senshi. Die! Galaxy Girl throws several meteor baseballs at the Sailor Senshi. They are intercepted with various attacks and deflected, but each Senshi is grazed and falls to the ground. BACKGROUND Go, go, Power Rangers! Go, go, Power Rangers! Go, go, Power Rangers, you Mighty Morphing Power Rangers! The giant robot wrestles pieces of Serpenterra to the ground. The head breaks off and flies away; the robot throws a chunk of wall at its engine. LORD ZED (speakers) My engine.... SAILOR MOON Why are you working with Lord Zed? GALAXY GIRL Because he promised me a chance to destroy the Sailor Senshi. SAILOR MOON But you're from the future, and we exist there. You can't kill us now; it'll ruin your own history and cause a time paradox! SAILOR MERCURY That makes sense, Sailor Moon! You've been studying! GALAXY GIRL But it didn't bother the people of the Black Moon, Nemesis, when they came here. SAILOR MOON That's because I didn't think of it! That's Sailor Mercury's job. LUNA Sailor Mercury didn't think of it either. GALAXY GIRL I don't understand.... TUXEDO KAMEN Quick, while she's confused, Sailor Moon. SAILOR MOON Right! Moon Spiral Heart Attack! Usagi blasts Galaxy Girl. At the last minute, Galaxy Girl touches a control on her wrist, and disappears. The Power Rangers jump out of the MegaThunderZord and send it on its way. YELLOW RANGER Looks like it's all over, even though Lord Zed escaped. BLACK RANGER With a broken engine, it'll take him weeks to get back to the moon. We can finish our vacation in peace! The school, of course, is completely wrecked. The next day, everyone is gathered around the table eating breakfast, except Ami-chan, who is doing vacation homework, and Billy, helping her. LUNA You know, Usagi, you will have to worry about Galaxy Girl in the future. USAGI But that's a long time. It's... in the _future_. TOMMY I hope the future is good for all of us, and that someday there might not be a need for the Power Rangers. REI I hear that a lot of people in America say there's already no need for the Power Rangers. MINAKO Well, if there were no Power Rangers, the Sailor Senshi could come to America. USAGI I don't know. America is awfully far. LUNA We'd never make it. If the Sailor Senshi come to America, then you're Queen Victoria. Everyone has a healthy laugh and then Luna turns on an old recording of news broadcasts about some of the Sailor Senshi's cases. <<< ENDING CREDITS >>> <<< COMMERCIAL BREAK >>> ARTEMIS (voiceover) Can I speak, Luna, finally? LUNA (voiceover) Yes, go ahead. ARTEMIS (voiceover) And now a special message from the Sailor Senshi and the Power Rangers. ARTEMIS (voiceover) What you have seen today is only fiction. A fantasy. In real life, learning Japanese is very difficult. Shot of Rei from Urusei Yatsura (no relation to Rei-chan) struggling with a Japanese textbook scroll for first-graders. ARTEMIS (voiceover) And it is impossible for most high school students to afford trips across the ocean. Shot of Ranma and Genma swimming to China. ARTEMIS (voiceover) And in real life, it is impossible to hide an object as big as a moon spiral rod in your clothing and make it undetectable until the battle.
