15. From Cornwall Ontario Newspaper
"September 26, 1890 Gravel Hill After a short illness of two weeks, Friday, Eliza Eleanor Montgomery, wife of Jas. Begg, J.P. of the 6th concession of Roxborough died on Saturday last. Mrs. Begg's parents emigrated from the Mohawk Valley in the State of New York early in the century and settled in the 1st concession of Roxborouogh. They had twelve children of whom deceased is one. On April 10th, 1839 she married to Mr. Begg and went immediately to live on the farm of her husband, Lot 21 in the 6th which was her home for the rest of her days. She was born, married, died and buried in the Township of Roxborough. Children blessed her union there being four girls and five boys. The youngest boy is dead, the youngest girl is married in the state of Michigan, the remainder of the family are settled in Roxborough and are well to do and influential people. Mrs. Begg was in every sense of the word a good woman, a kind neighbor and true friend and her family have the heartfelt sympathy of a very large circle of acquaintences. The funeral on Monday was an unusually large one there being no less than 12 carriages in attendance."
From the obituary, the statement "They had twelve children of whom deceased is one" refers to Eliza Eleanor as one child of John Montgomery. The statement does not mean that only one child of John Montgomery is deceased. Four children of John Montgomery died prior to 1890.
