Paranoid Web Site Admins Sabotage Their Own Conectivity

Many web sites on the Internet are not reachable from various networks on the Internet, and few people know why. The problem is that many web sites do MTU discovery by sending a "don't fragment" packet but don't allow the ICMP reply to reach them. Result: Loss of connectivity.

In this directory you will find some saved Usenet postings that discuss this problem. Read them in sequence.

You will need a web browser that properly displays files in text/plain format. The default fonts used by Netscape and Microsoft browsers might not clearly show you such text. Try adjusting the fonts. Lynx and Opera seem to work nicely.
