No spam todayAdded 28 April 1999 due to rape porn ads in talk.rape. Spam seems to have stopped after September 1999.
I have been in contact with the admin of this site, who assures me that SexTV never sold rape videos and had a strong anti-spam policy.
He insists that the rape ads were sent by an affiliate marketer who was terminated for spamming.
A Google Groups search does not turn up any spam for sextv on usenet since 1999.
Our site never advertised rape videos. I'm not sure if you're familiar with how a webmaster program works, basically anyone over 18 who is qualified may signup to promote, and if they start spamming it takes a while to hear about it. All you can really do as a site owner is delete the account, tell the guy not to do it, and don't pay him his commissions. It's not uncommon for site owners to warn other site owners of problematic promoters that may hide behind different identities. If they come back and signup with another name, a different IP, new info, you never really know, it's difficult to control. These are not people that are hired by us, so when you say the spam comes from our site, it doesn't.
As far as identifying the person, he's been completely deleted from the system, your talking about 9 years ago. All respectable adult sites have very strict spam policies, you can't be in business for 15 years without it. I suppose if someone wanted to sobpeona a persons information, they could probably do it if they were breaking the law and someone wanted to prosecute. From what I remember about that spam, he was in Asia and was a real pain in the rear to get rid because he kept creating new accounts with different identities after we would delete him.
Here's the section of our TOS that relates to spam:
