From: spambait@petra.dyndns.org (Cameron L. Spitzer) Subject: AT&T writes pink contracts, confirmed! Date: 04 Jun 2000 00:00:00 GMT Message-ID: Organization: http://extra.newsguy.com User-Agent: slrn/0.9.5.3 (UNIX) Newsgroups: news.admin.net-abuse.email I just got my umpteenth Elite Webhosting ( http://www.bulke-mail.net/ ) spam and decided to call AT&T Business Internet Services to see why they were ignoring complaints. The person who took the call told me AT&T has an abuse staff and they are aware of the problem, but he could not say why nothing has been done. I demanded to speak to his supervisor, "Mike." (They don't reveal last names at AT&T.) "Mike" told me that AT&T has two Web hosting contracts. One allows them to terminate a customer for offering what Elite Webhosting offers at http://www.bulke-mail.net/frames.html . The other lets the customer offer spamming services, "bullet-proof" Web hosting, and spamware, *and lets them spam*, as long as they do not generate "too many" complaints. Perhaps a representative of AT&T would do us the courtesy of explaining this policy in news.admin.net-abuse.email. Cameron
