• The username you select may contain three to eight alphanumeric characters (letters and digits). This is also called your 'login name'. It is the name by which you will log into our network. It will also be used to form an email reply address for you, which will be of the form 'username@rahul.net'. A change in the username later will cost you $75, so pick one now that you expect to be happy with.
• Your password must contain between six and eight characters. It must be hard to guess, so it cannot just be a dictionary word, name, etc. Include some lowercase characters, some uppercase characters, and one or two special (non-alpha-numeric characters). Our password checker is quite picky about what it will accept. If it refuses to accept your selected password it will tell you why and you may select another and try again.
• Your published full name as entered in the online sign-up will be visible to other users with the 'finger' command, and will also appear in the From: line of outgoing mail messages and any Usenet News postings you make from the UNIX shell. A made-up name is permissible provided it is not likely to offend, deceive, or defraud anybody. This can be changed later but we discourage frequent changes, so we suggest you pick something that you will be happy with. Most customers just use their real name.
• The information in the name and address must be accurate. This is how we will send you any important notices by postal mail. False name and address information may be grounds for termination of your account.
• Telephone numbers: Please provide as many as possible, including work phone, home phone, pager number, fax number, etc. With your phone number(s) include any other useful hints, e.g., best times to call, or write '(h)' to mean home phone, '(w)' to mean work phone, '(day)' to mean a daytime number, '(eve)' to mean an evenings/weekends number, '(fax)' to mean fax, '(pager)' to mean pager, etc. (We will normally call you only in an urgent situation.)
• Email address: If you have one or more current email addresses, please provide them, separated by commas. Confirmation of account creation will be emailed to you.
• Referred by: Please tell us how you heard about a2i. If a specific a2i customer referred you, please give us that person's name and (if known) login name at a2i.
• Note/comments: This area lets you make any special requests briefly. This will alert us that special handling may be needed. IMPORTANT: After your account is created, please send your special requests again by email to support@rahul.net in more detailed form. Any new email sent to support@rahul.net must include the word nospam anywhere in the Subject line, otherwise it will be silently discarded by our spam filter.
