The Grand Prix of Sonoma - July 2000

These photos were taken in July 2000, at Sears Point Raceway, in Sonoma, CA, just north of San Francisco.  Typical summer sunny skies, created hot conditions inside the cockpits of the closed racing cars.  But the most blistering came from the speeds of the Prototypes, especially Allan McNish in the wining Audi R8, who set a new track record.

Team BMW prepares under a huge tent.  The weather was hot and dry. The winning Audi R8 streaks by heading toward turn 10.
The Audis sport bright primary color coding to tell them apart easily. Just about ready to go out on a qualifying lap.
The Reynard 2KQ of Johansson Mathews Racing ended up finishing seventh. The Olive Garden Lola B2K/10 was fast, but had problems.
The best mid-front engined Panoz was fifth behind the Audis and BMWs. Dick Barbour Porsches finished just behind the BMW of Said/Stuck.

Cunningham/ Van Overbeek BMW M3 finished fourth in GT.

The Team Oreca Vipers dominated the GTS class once again.
