Isla St. Clair
Isla St Clair is known to millions for her numerous TV appearances,
which include all the top entertainment and chat shows, the Royal
Variety show, and most notably, the Generation Game. Beginning her
singing career at the age of 10 in Aberdeen folk clubs, she has captivated
hearts and entranced audiences in cities as diverse as Los Angeles
and Moscow.
Described by The Scotsman as .. a Scottish icon .. and perhaps the
best exponent of Scottish traditional song, her early recordings
are still used as definitive reference works by the School of Scottish
Studies. As Isla's first album gained her the accolade of Britains
Best Female Folk Singer, her more recent recordings have served to
secure her place forever in the top echelon of World Folk Singers.
Isla is much sought after as a TV and radio presenter, winning the
coveted Prix Jeunesse in Munich and co-hosting the Generation Game,
which attracted an average audience of 17 million of 4 years, winning
her the award of Best Female TV Personality.
Her new album, When the Pipers Play launches a trilogy of albums
and videos as part of the award winning Celtic Legends series, and
features amongst others, HRH The Prince of Wales, Phil Collins and
Charlton Heston.
Isla's singing, said The Scotsman... has acquired a new sense of
dramatic emphasis, her distinctly warm and clear tone and exuberance
brings her songs to life... The Sunday Times wrote of her... The
powerful and evocative voice of Isla St. Clair has produced an album
of enchanting original tunes which deserve equal ranking with those
other haunting themes Mull of Kintyre and Amazing Grace. |
