Liz Graham
"You can climb on my walls if you dare to, we can tumble and fall through the air"

Born and raised in Nyack, New York, Liz Graham quickly fell into the musical direction of her family. With a love of music handed down from her father, and a love of poetry handed down from her mother. Graham started playing music and writing poetry by the age of eight. Poetry at that young age was inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson's 'A Child's Garden of Verses.' Her first choice of instrument was the drums.

Graduating to the guitar at age thirteen, Graham started to learn and play the music of Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and Jackson Browne. She also began to write her own songs. These folk influences coupled with her rock influences (The Rolling Stones, Costello, Genesis, Clapton) from playing drums in her all-girl high school band, led Graham and her music in a folk/rock direction that she has stuck with throughout her young adult life.

Active in ASCAP, the performing rights organization, Graham won the ASCAP Special Award in 1995, 1996, and 1997 in recognition of her appearances in clubs and on radio. The band she fronted in 1996 was chosen from over 10,000 entrants to participate in the 1996 Ticketmaster Music Showcase. Acceptance into the (by invitation only) ASCAP Advanced Songwriter's Workshop would further enhance Graham's visibility.

Impressed by her songwriting prowess, a workshop classmate, Ed Pettersen, presented her to Tangible Music, the record label that had recently signed him to a deal. The label quickly signed Graham, with Pettersen tapped to produce the record.

Graham's self-titled debut features an acoustic/electric sound ranging from folk-rock balladry to guitar- driven pop. The songs are tough, tight and infectious. With her evocative, detail-filled lyrics, Graham writes about relationships, dreams, and Sundays. Only when you get over the power of her voice do you begin to appreciate the sheer talent of Lit Graham.

When not performing, writing, and otherwise engaging, in music, Graham returns to nature via the rustic- ity of her home in the scenic Hudson Valley region of New York. She enjoys growing flowers and veg- etables, meditating, hiking and yoga. Graham also notes "I have always loved oil painting and studied it for a time. Istill paint for relaxation, only now I create crazy abstracts paintings for my own pleasure. They fill my home."

Look for Lit Graham to join to the ranks of premier female singer-songwriters who have dominated the music scene of late.

    Wende Allyn

California born, Oklahoma grown, Wende's songs combine the stable and sturdy traits of a prairie farmer with a breezy west coast attitude. Solid lyrics float on shamelessly hummable melodies. Her debut album, Catalina Days, showcases her songwriting skill. Backed by an eclectic mix of musicians, the album has received extremely positive reviews in the weeks since it's release.

Wende's songs cover the gamut of the human experience, from family ties to social issues to story songs. Characters in her songs take on life from succinct composite sketches, drawn with lyrical pictures. Like a good storyteller, Wende gets the listener involved in the songs from the first line and keeps them hanging until the last note. Wende takes universal experiences, describes them with clarity and originality, and creates songs that arise far above the common denominator of those experiences.

In the past year , Wende has become one of Oklahoma City's high profile performers, opening for national touring acts like Janis Ian, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Guy Clark, Sara Hickman, Betty Elders,Cheryl Wheeler and Meredith Louise Miller. " Very impressive", is how Ray Wylie Hubbard described her set when she opened his show in February 1997.

Greg Johnson of the Blue Door has said That Wende is one of the best young songwriters in america today. Her regular appearances in Oklahoma City have included dates at the Blue Door, VZD's, Medinas, Cafe Ole, Rocky's, Pipers, and Sandman's. Most of the time, she performs with her band, John Greenberg, Craig White, Louise Goldberg and Elyse Angelo. When performing solo, the songs retain their powerful musical statements as her voice rides clear and strong above the acoustic guitar.

Wende has been taking her music on the road. this past summer, she performed at the tucson folk Festival, Bandera Folk Festival, the Poor House in Fort worth, Texas and at writers in the round night at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.

    Karen Anderson

Karen released her debut cd "Figure out me" on her own Levitating Cat Label using studio aces Ed Breckenfeld from Insiders on drums, John Rice also of Insiders on violin, pedal steel guitar and mandolin, Peat Moss guitarist Arch Alcantara, Susan Voelz of Poi Dog Pondering on violin and Klem of Dick Holliday and the Bamboo Gang. The CD was produced and engineered by Rick Barnes, guitarist for the Nicholas Tremulis band, at Rax Trax studio. Rick also produced or recorded Wedge, Boogie Shoes, Liquid Soul, Ulele, Las Toallitas, Broken Wire and Swimmer.

Here's what they're saying about Karen's CD and demo:

"Her tuneful melodies make for an engaging acoustic collection. The painfully funny "Aging Rock Star" suggests a gift for wry social observation."
    - Terrence Flamm, Illinois Entertainer

"Most of the music here is acoustic and that's what works for the honey-throated Anderson. Like Joni Mitchell, or Juliana Hatfield for whom Anderson is at times a dead ringer, her lush layered harmonies are undeniably the prominent instrument throughout the album.........Figure out me is a lean and strong debut and clearly a sign of good things to come from Karen Anderson."
    -Tim Steil, Showcase Music Magazine.

"She's been sending me cassettes (demos) for the last couple of years and the disc has turned out mighty fine,"
    - Richard Milne, WXRT Radio

"She's a talented, poppy songwriter" - James VanOsdol, Q101 Radio

"Inventive folk-rock from a fine Chicago singer/songwriter" -Dan Kening, Daily Herald

"I really enjoy listening to local musician Karen Anderson's release Figure Out Me. It blends the power of rock 'n' roll with thoughtful lyrics and a heart for the sentimental."

"Karen Anderson sings in a voice that is as real as the night is dark, as honest ast the day is long and as expressive as the sun is bright. She can write songs and good ones too but the joy you hear in her voice leads me to believe the old expression, it's the singer not the song. The two find each other with no problem though on a forthcoming disc from Karen called, Over the Line."
    - Richard Milne, WXRT Radio, Chicago.

"Over the Line" features 10 new songs written by Karen and performed by her band with help from ace instrumentalist, John Rice. Karen produced the CD with two of Chicago's finest engineers: Craig Williams (Freddy Jones Band) and Rick Barnes (Nicholas Tremulis, Liquid Soul).

While her debut CD saw Karen trying to reconcile her coffeehouse side and her tavern side, this disc represents the full integration of songwriter and band. It also shows Karen confidently moving between pop and country, Americana and rock. The songs themselves range from ruminations of the heart to road diaries and a lamentation from an insane asylum, with passionate singing and wry lyrics.

Originally from New England, 24 year old Havilah Rand is currently g aining popularity in the Northwest as a folk /rock musician with an awe-inspiring voice and captivating stage presence.

Havilah's songwriting combines jazz and blues influences with an alternative rhythmic edge. Her lyrics convey her own perspective on political and environmental issues as well as personal experiences and feelings about love and life.

Influenced by other great female singer/songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt, Havilah has developed her own unique sound and both her songs and personality have the ability to reach a diverse audience.

Havilah began writing songs on the piano when she was eight. Years of starring in musical theater productions and formal vocal training at Interlochen Arts Academy and Manhattan School of Music helped to develop Havilah's natural talent as a musician and stage performer.

A gypsy at heart, Havilah decided to take a train across the country in the spring of 1992. She worked on a dude ranch in California for five months before moving to Seattle where she joined the popular rock band WISH. The band went on several tours and recorded two short albums before Havilah decided to learn the guitar, quit the band and become a solo acoustic act.

Since then, Havilah has performed in every venue imaginable including brew-pubs, coffeehouses, colleges, festivals and theaters.

She released her debut album "Superfarmhouse" in May of 1997 and has been on several tours throughout the country promoting it. She continues to book shows in Washington and plans for a west coast tour in the spring are in the works.

In a golden age of female singer/songwriters, Havilah will not be unknown for long. CD sales are growing at a steady pace and live shows are quickly becoming standing room only.Check out "Superfarmhouse" and be sure not to miss her live performance when she comes to your town!

    Leslie Brooks

Leslie's CD, PASSION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS, is a collection of her compo- sitions which has proved to please her audiences and is achieving radio-friendly status as well. Her first single, "Lookin' Back on Luckenbach", written with her husband/manager, Ray Roberts, airs on Bill Mack's WBAP broadcast nationwide and on KFAN Radio, the #1 Americana station in the country. This ballad portraying the Texas hill country took her back there as a New Folk Artist in '94, and as a featured Texas Ballad Tree Artist in '95 & '96.. The second single, "Louisiana Bayou Man" is airing on many stations throughout Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana and Virginia.. The Brooks/Roberts collaboration, TWISTER ALLEY, inspired by the '94 tornado which hit the nearby town of Lancaster, has also been embraced by many Texas radio stations including the popular KYNG in Dallas. Leslie performed the song on Channel 8's GOOD MORNING TEXAS to promote the "Save Our Square Benefit Concert" starring Willie Nelson and Asleep At The Wheel. She and band member Tim Harris opened the show to a sold-out audience, raising $35,000 for Lancaster's town square. TWISTER ALLEY was also released statewide in June of '97 for relief effort in behalf of the Jarrell, Texas tornado victims .

    Elizabeth White

"Elizabeth White is a passionate folk-rocker. Her songs are lyrically driven and delivered home by solid rhythm guitar playing. Haunting and determined, this album is solid in its intensity. It's easy to relate to her songs- written from her heart and soul. In a word, it Rocks!"

"She's one of the rare ones...the ones who have that ability to drag you into the song and get you feeling the love, the loss, the joy, and every emotion poured into it. This isn't a half-hearted attempt to cover mediocre songs with a nice voice...it's an audibly pleasing collage of beautiful music, laced with emotion and passion every flowing step of the way. Sound good? It IS! Contact Elizabeth...you won't be sorry."

"What a great voice! Elizabeth White is a very talented woman bringing a great folksy, acoustic sound that is ala Melissa Etheridge."
