THE ACE AND DEUCE OF PIPERING/I MET A FIDDLER

Ace and Deuce is a long dance from O'Neill's "The Dance Music of Ireland” It is paired with a song by Arlin Robins, a long-time friend, artist and fellow musician.

BRIDE'S FAVORITE/POP GOES THE WEASEL/THE ASHGROVE

Those who have seen us perform this live appreciate our need for a choreographer. Thanks to modern technology, the four of us can gracefully play ten instruments in this set.

BAIDIN FHEIDHLIMIDH (PHELIM'S LITTLE BOAT)/
BALLTNASLOE FAIR/SIX PENNY MONEY

Baidin Fheidhlimidh describes Phelim's travels along the west roast of Ireland in his swift, light and beautiful sea-craft. In the second verse, Phelim's boat crashes, but the song continues merrily along. Tom learned Ballinasloe Fair from Chicago fiddler Liz Carroll. Six Penny Money was absorbed by osmosis.

TOM'S #1/NIGHTTIME FROLICS/MARY'S WEDDING/
CREASE IN THE FOREHEAD

Tom's early attempts of fiddling created the first tune (hence the title). When he became more adept at composing titles, he wrote the second. Mary's Wedding is a well-known Scottish song and dance. Ingrid wrote Crease In the Forehead while stricken with existential angst in a remote Wisconsin cabin. The title also describes the physical anguish we endured learning the piece.

Two harp tunes; the first composed by the renowned Turlough O'Caralan and the second by another blind harper, Rory Dall O'Cathain

RUCAVIETIS

This is a Latvian dance tune, played by a Latvian girl, on a Latvian lap-harp. Ingrid used to dance to this as a kid in Latvian school. The teacher liked to dance with the prettiest girls . .

GOODBYE MAGGIE'S

We performed this song as a "last-call" ritual at "Maggie Mae's", an Austin club we have played at for many years. The original song "Goodbye John Joe" was recorded by the Sands Family. The instrument breaks are a Canadian tune called "St. Anne's Reel.
