ANNE WEISS UPCOMING APPEARANCES

HI Folks!
I am happy to let you know that I will be playing at one of my favorite places in town, the Alberta Street Public House, with some of Portland's best musicians! If you haven't heard Jeremy or Ali yet, come just to hear them- Jeremy is like a mix between Ben Harper and John Martin, and Ali is a very fine pianist. We'll all mix it up by the end of the night. Should be grand!

Hope your tomatoes are doing well!
-Anne

About house concerts:

They are a great way to get a performer you like to come directly to your house! They cost you nothing! All you need to provide (in my case) is a cat-free, dog free space that seats, squats, or squishes at least 15-20 people or more. You would need to do the outreach and publicity to your musical community, friends and neighbors. Most people charge about $10 at the door and sometimes sell tickets in advance so the performer is assured of an audience. If you are in fiscal straits, you can even take a percent of the door since you are re the promoter!

Great things about house concerts::

They are much more intimate.

There's none of that silly sound equipment between you and the performer.

It helps build community.

You can also tack on a workshop and learn something without having to leave the house.

They're fun.

If you throw a potluck before hand, you eat really well too.

Most performers like doing house concerts; if the first one goes well, you may find all kinds of musical folks happy to come to your home.

Best to you all!

"Braille is just amazing. So unusual, to love every song on a CD, but I do; this music is so perfectly alive."
-Kasey Jueds, Poet

"On her third independent release, Braille, Weiss stirs her bountiful talents and eclectic musical passions into a sumptuous musical stew. It's a meal rich with emotional and sensual nourishment from fiery acoustic blues guitar, words flirty with the freedom and depth of the best poetry, and a vibrant voice, traversing easily from whispered intimacy to joyous gospel holler."
-Jeff Rosenberg, Willamette Week, Portland Oregon.
